Linda Maxey, Marimba


Linda Maxey, the first marimbist on the roster of Columbia Artists Management, began studying piano at the age of four and marimba at age six. Her first major performance was at age eleven when she appeared at Madison Square Garden in New York for the Kiwanis International Convention. She returned to New York for her official debut at the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall in 1990. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano at North Texas State University in Denton and a Master of Music in Theory at the Eastman School of Music, where she was a marimba student of William Street. Linda Maxey's arrangements for marimba and piano are published by Southern Music Company and Alfred Publishing.
