20 YEARS LATERIgor Lešnik Igor Lešnik, born 1956 in Zagreb, Croatia, is one of Europe's finest percussionists. Since 1984 he continues to lead the Croatian Radio Symphony orchestra percussion section. In 1990 Igor organized international percussion events and initiated the percussion department at the Music Academy in Zagreb. In 2003 he was awarded French knighthood title for accomplishments in arts and literature. This is Igor's third recording on Equilibrium with compositions that had world premieres in Europe, Brazil and Japan. Igor's collaborative work with composer, Franz Cibulka, demonstratively showcases his prowess as a timpanist, vibraphonist and drum set performer. Ivo Malec's Vibrafonietta for vibraphone solo and strings is a superbly performed beguiling work, appreciated on first listening and becoming more and more seductive upon subsequent explorations. Johann Carl Christian Fischer's (1752-1807) Symphony with Five Obbligato Timpani is again, beautifully performed by the soloist and the orchestra. Lastly, Igor's own work, Twenty Years Later, caps off these superb performances and is a most enjoyable work.
